The Goods Movement panel will explore how changing freight patterns impact our region and how a coordinated response can alleviate the strain on our infrastructure, land use patterns, economic prosperity, and quality of life.
Already on the rise prior to the start of the pandemic, the explosion of online shopping over the past few years has drastically altered the amount and timing of goods delivery throughout the region. We are now at an inflection point where the issue must be addressed. Without adequate and thoughtful planning, the trend could have major negative impacts on social, economic, and environmental equity and sustainability in our urban centers, suburbs, exurbs, and rural communities; yet with the right policies and approaches, it could benefit the region, providing economic opportunity and an enhanced transportation system for all.
RPA thanks Guidehouse, Jacobs, McKinsey & Company, and AECOM for sponsoring complimentary virtual passes to the RPA Assembly panels!
