Meera Joshi, Former Deputy Mayor for Operations, City of New York

Meera Joshi most recently served as Deputy Mayor for Operations, overseeing New York City’s infrastructure, public realm, and climate portfolio. She expanded open spaces, reduced emissions, and worked to protect New Yorkers from the impacts of climate change while ensuring that the city’s infrastructure and essential services—such as trash collection and drinking water—remained strong and reliable. Meera is also on the board of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Previously, Joshi was President Biden’s nominee for Administrator of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, responsible for regulating interstate trucking. She also served as Chair and CEO of the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission, the nation’s largest regulator of for-hire transportation.

Earlier in her career, she was the Inspector General for New York City’s Department of Corrections, overseeing investigations into corruption within the city’s jail operations. She also served as the First Deputy Executive Director of New York City’s Civilian Complaint Review Board, leading investigations into civilian allegations of police misconduct. Additionally, she was the General Manager for the New York office of Sam Schwartz Transportation Consultants and a visiting scholar at NYU’s Rudin Center for Transportation Policy.
