Thank you to all who supported and attended the 2022 RPA Centennial Assembly and celebrated 100 years of research, planning, and advocacy with us.
Keynote Interview
The RPA Centennial Assembly focused on the transformations our region must make in order to thrive for the next 100 years. As we recover from COVID, we must double down on investing in communities for a diverse and growing population, reduce emissions and adapt to climate change, and prioritize health and prosperity for everyone.
With infrastructure investments from the federal government on a scale not seen since FDR’s New Deal, transformative changes are within our reach. RPA’s Centennial Assembly explored how we can realize those changes: how we can fix roadway congestion and transit access with housing; how we can move toward solving the climate crisis with better land use planning; and how desperately needed infrastructure investment can benefit everyone in our region.
While RPA’s priorities have evolved to meet the challenges of a changing region over the past 100 years, our long-term vision, regional perspective, and commitment to the tri-state area have remained constant.
2022 John Zucotti Award
RPA’s highest award for leadership in the region is named after John E. Zuccotti, a long-serving member of the RPA Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Presented each year at RPA’s annual Assembly, the award recognizes a leader who has made extraordinary contributions to the built environment of the tri-state metropolitan region.
Presented to
US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer
Senator Schumer has earned the honor for his tireless efforts in combatting climate change and fighting for infrastructure funds that will transform the entire region.
To celebrate RPA’s 100th anniversary at the RPA Centennial Assembly, we debuted a series of videos about each of our four regional plans and produced a timeline booklet detailing major moments in our history. To learn more about the history of RPA and planning in the tri-state region, check out our Regional Plans and our RPA Timeline.
