Dan Garodnick has produced remarkable achievements in his four years as Director of City Planning and Chair of the New York City Planning Commission. Working with an outstanding team in the department and at City Hall, he oversaw the development, advocacy, and approval of City of Yes – the most impactful and comprehensive reform of New York’s zoning codes since the 1960s. Under his leadership the City also approved five major rezoning efforts in the East Bronx, Jamaica, Midtown South, Long Island City and Atlantic Avenue. All together, these efforts permit New York to build approximately 130,000 new homes to help alleviate the housing affordability crisis too many New Yorkers are struggling with. RPA thanks Dan for his public service and wishes him well in his next endeavor.
