Regional Plan Association to Honor MTA Capital Plan at Annual Gala

share

Regional Plan Association (RPA) today announced that The MTA Capital Plan will be the recipient of the 2026 Project of the Year Award at RPA’s annual gala, “Celebrate the Tri-State 2026” on October 15, 2026 at Cipriani Broadway.

Presented annually at RPA’s fall benefit, the Project of the Year is awarded to a transformative project or investment that aligns with RPA’s mission and re-imagines our future. The MTA Capital Plan is a strategic package of investments that will deliver greater capacity, more reliable service and an improved customer experience while addressing climate change. The award celebrates and recognizes the MTA’s commitment to improving the quality of life for everyone who lives and works in the New York metropolitan region.

“The MTA Capital Plan recognizes that there is no New York without mass transit,” said Jamie Rubin, Board Chair of Regional Plan Association. “We couldn’t be happier to celebrate what this capital investment means for both everyday New Yorkers and for the region as a whole. By funding vital improvements for our subways, buses, and commuter rail, businesses will benefit from a more reliable and connected workforce and customer base. When we can rely on the trains, we simply can do more — for ourselves, for our businesses, and for our region.”

Announced earlier, the evening will also recognize David Kooris, Executive Director of the Connecticut Municipal Development Authority (CMDA); Jacquelyn A. Suárez, Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA); and RuthAnne Visnauskas, Commissioner and CEO of New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), who will receive the RPA 2026 Making It Happen Award. Wiley Publishing CEO Matt Kissner will also receive RPA’s Above and Beyond Award which recognizes an RPA board member whose commitment to the organization and impact on the region have been exemplary.

Together, this year’s honorees represent a shared commitment to expand opportunity, to raise expectations, and to deliver meaningful results for residents throughout the tri-state region.

The awards will be presented at the Regional Plan Association 2026 Benefit on 10/15/2026 at Cipriani Broadway (25 Broadway). For tickets and more information, visit: RPA | Celebrate the Tri-State 2026
