Statement attributable to Tom Wright, President and CEO at Regional Plan Association (RPA):
“RPA supports the Gateway Development Commission’s breach of contract lawsuit filed today to compel the immediate restoration of federal funding for the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP), the cornerstone project of the Gateway Program,” said Tom Wright, President and CEO of Regional Plan Association. “With 1,000 jobs immediately on the line, and a further 95,000 future jobs and $19.6 billion in economic activity generated by the construction of the Tunnel threatened, we can not risk the momentum and progress of the nation’s most urgent infrastructure project. We call on the court to immediately restore the funding Congress has appropriated so the project to shore up this critical swath of the Northeast Corridor can continue on time and on budget. Nearly $2 billion in taxpayers’ funds have already been invested in this project, and taxpayers deserve the full return on investment.”
