Thousands of urban planners are descending on New York City this weekend for the annual American Planning Association conference, exploring our public spaces and transportation system, and discussing some of the nation’s urgent planning problems. And RPA will be there in full force, offering a “deep dive” into our fourth regional plan, A Region Transformed.
On Saturday, Chris Jones, Pierina Ana Sanchez, Moses Gates, Melissa Kaplan-Macey, and Vanessa Barrios will offer an overview of RPA’s progress on the fourth regional plan and share how RPA has approached different challenges including integrating health into regional planning and engaging a diverse group of community partners in the planning process.

- Techniques to engage stakeholders traditionally left out of the planning process, especially lower-income communities of color and how to incorporate the input of all stakeholders into a regional comprehensive plan.
On Tuesday, RPA’s Vice President for Energy and Environment Rob Freudenberg will host a session on the potential for buy-outs to address rising sea levels in certain communities.
