We all have ideas about what needs to be fixed in the New York region. More affordable housing. Fewer packed subway cars or more frequent buses. More resilience in the face of rising seas. But can you summarize these complex issues in 17 syllables?
Last month, we shared a set of haikus on some of RPA’s past research, with topics ranging from federal housing finance regulation to outerborough transit needs.
Now we’re turning to you. Share with us your haikus about what you think the New York region needs for the future. What are the biggest challenges facing your neighborhood or the metro as a whole? What innovative ideas could solve them?
Tweet to @RegionalPlan, email [email protected] or share your poems with us on Facebook and we’ll add our favorite submissions to this post.
And for your inspiration, here’s a haiku from Senior Fellow for Transportation (and Poetry) Jeff Zupan.
