This booklet and the accompanying Conference on February 7, 1970 at Sacred Heart University, present a particular view of what is happening in your local area and the choices for the future that you can make. It is a view from farther away than you normally see your home surroundings. From Regional Plan Association’s vantage point, overlooking some 13,000 square miles surrounding the Port of New York, the 350 square miles of Southern Fairfield County do not show up in as much detail as you see them. On the other hand, at this distance, certain relationships become clearer than they are on the spot - particularly the development pressures stemming from the economy of the urban Region around New York City and the urban belt along the Eastern Seaboard.
