On behalf of the millions of people who benefit every day from facilities controlled and operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), RPA congratulates Rick Cotton on his decision to retire after 8 years running the Authority.
During his remarkable tenure running the nation’s most complex public authority, Rick transformed LaGuardia, built a world-class Terminal A at Newark, and led to the complete overhaul of JFK. He launched the modernization and expansion of the nation’s busiest bus terminal and invested billions to expand the PATH system. He managed the ports through COVID and continued the revitalization of Lower Manhattan with the development of 3WTC and the Perelman Performing Arts Center.
Rick also put the PANYNJ on secure ground through his steady leadership and strong partnership with PANYNJ Chairman Kevin O’Toole and Governors Andrew Cuomo, Kathy Hochul and Phil Murphy. In 2021, RPA was pleased to present him with the John Zuccotti Award in recognition of his extraordinary accomplishments.
