The following statement is attributable to Rob Freudenberg, VP of Energy & Environment:
Today’s decision by the EPA to rescind the endangerment finding is a reckless decision that - if it holds - will serve to catalyze the climate crisis, endangering more human lives, diminishing economic opportunity, and threatening the viability of critical ecosystems while increasing our reliance on fossil fuels. Addressing the root causes of climate change is an “all-in” effort that requires cooperation between nations globally, as well as among regions, states, and municipalities. Today’s decision abdicates federal responsibility for curbing greenhouse gas emissions and sends us back to a time to when industry was free to operate unchecked without regard for the collective consequences of carbon emissions. Industry leaders, elected officials, advocacy and community-based organizations, and residents must join in opposing this effort, in the interest of a healthy, livable future.
