RPA mourns Arthur Imperatore, Sr., who passed away on November 18th, 2020. He is best known for reviving the commuter ferry system between New Jersey and New York with the creation of NY Waterways.
Born and raised in Hudson County, NJ, Arthur was a son of immigrants and an entrepreneur whose bold ideas shaped the transportation sector in the region. Arthur’s first foray in transportation was a truck company started with his brothers in the 1940s. That company - A-P-A Transport - grew into one of the biggest interstate freight trucking companies in the country.
Arthur Imperatore was a regionalist at heart.”
