We are honored to present the Governor James J. Florio Leadership Award to Joseph L. Fiordaliso
Governor Florio was our friend, mentor, esteemed RPA Board Member, and Co-Chair of our New Jersey Committee for more than 20 years. The Governor James J. Florio Leadership Award and companion internship program recognizes and celebrates outstanding New Jersey leaders who embody the Governor’s legacy through their work toward better mobility, stronger and more inclusive communities, and a more resilient region.
The posthumous award will be presented to Joseph L. Fiordaliso by Christine Guhl-Sadovy, President of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, in recognition of his decades of service to our state as an elected official and as the President of the Board of Public Utilities. During his 18 year tenure, Joseph L. Fiordaliso championed alternative and renewable energy sources like wind, solar, and geothermal, and was a fierce advocate for affordable and reliable utility service, particularly for those from historically underserved communities. The award will be accepted by his son, Joe Fiordaliso, Jr., CEO of NorthStar Strategies.
RPA invites you to join us in celebrating this year’s Project of Regional Significance, the newly renovated Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson.
We will celebrate the newly renovated Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson as Project of Regional Significance, accepted by Mayor Andre Sayegh of Paterson and Baye Adofo-Wilson, Esq., of BAW Development LLC. BAW Development recently completed the renovation of the stadium, working in partnership with RPM Development, Clarke Caton Hintz Architects, the City of Paterson, and the State of New Jersey, alongside the National Park Service. The project was the largest historic preservation project in the state and saved a historic Art Deco stadium that was home to Negro League baseball teams. The stadium features a multisport athletic facility that is now home to the area’s minor league baseball team, the New Jersey Jackals, as well as a restaurant and event space, affordable senior housing, and a museum dedicated to the Negro Leagues and the civil rights struggle. The project exemplifies historic preservation, equity-centered planning, and community development.
