2021 is expected to be a pivotal year for climate action as we recognize opportunities to link climate action with economic recovery and justice for marginalized communities.
To move from ambition to action we must address tensions embedded in different climate solutions that threaten to undermine progress. At the heart of these tensions are questions about the role of government in advancing climate solutions - and whether they defy market solutions or private property rights.
The panel will address the market and its capability to meet climate goals - or whether stronger government intervention is required. How do we prioritize environmental justice as we implement climate solutions? How do we create jobs that make the region more sustainable, resilient, and equitable.
Preceding the panel, Cecilia Martinez, Senior Director for Environmental Justice for the White House Council on Environmental Quality, will be interviewed by Peggy Shepard, WE ACT for Environmental Justice Co-Founder and Executive Director and a member of the RPA Board of Directors.
