Telecommunications technology is the unseen backbone of our economy. We expect this critical infrastructure to be there when we need it and we need it now more than ever. As we weather the COVID-19 crisis, the digital networks that connect us to one another and the world are working overtime to support work from home, remote learning, telemedicine and a host of other pressing needs.
This crisis has revealed the need for broad deployment and acceleration of next gen telecommunications infrastructure to ensure that all of the region’s residents and businesses are connected to reliable and fast networks. And it has shown us how unequal access is widening the opportunity gap across the region. This panel will discuss the challenges and solutions for deploying the infrastructure required to support universal connectivity and economic recovery and the public/private sector collaboration we need to achieve a 21st century digital region.
