A Fourth Regional Plan Recommendation
Sitting in traffic is still a frustrating daily experience for many of the region’s residents who must drive a car to get to work or run errands. The last 50 years have demonstrated that wholesale highway expansions don’t solve traffic issues long-term. The only way to address congestion effectively is to manage traffic. This can be done using a range of tools, including removing physical bottlenecks, prioritizing multi-occupancy vehicles, and charging users to drive at the most congested times.
