“When our subway and commuter rail system falters, our region falters. To avoid this fate, we need revenue and there is no better source than congestion pricing. But, we can’t stop there. Before asking people to put more money into transit, we owe it to them to ensure that this money is effectively and efficiently spent. Today, the MTA is structurally incapable of doing so. If we are to create the 21st century transit system that New Yorkers deserve, we need a 21st century organization to oversee its rebirth. I commend Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio for their leadership in taking meaningful steps towards achieving this goal,” said Scott Rechler, Chairman of the Regional Plan Association.
