During Climate Week 2021, New York State officials awarded bids to two teams to bring clean energy to New York City. The Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE) is a collaboration between Hydro-Québec, Transmission Developers, and Blackstone Group. Clean Path New York is a partnership between Invenergy, energyRE, and the New York Power Authority.
Both teams aim to have transmission lines built before 2030, and promise to power approximately 2.5 million homes in New York City with renewable energy as well as provide jobs for thousands during construction. These projects if constructed would be among the largest energy infrastructure investments made in New York State in decades. And both projects have spurred conversations in regards to environmental and economic impacts.
Please join us for a conversation with representatives from CHPE, Clean Path NY, and other stakeholders as we discuss renewable energy goals, job opportunities, and challenges that the teams may face in constructing these transmission lines.
We thank Con Edison for their support of our energy panel discussions.
