All three states in the region have recently made major strides toward creating a better environment to build more housing, and more reforms are in the works. Whether loosening zoning, streamlining the Environmental Review Process, or encouraging more transit-oriented development we understand that if we are going to bring affordability to our region, we need to make it easier to build more homes, especially near jobs and transit.
How do we connect a more abundant housing market to upward mobility and a better, healthier quality of life? How do we make sure that low- and moderate-income residents and people from all throughout the region can share in new opportunities? And how do we ensure this added housing brings with it real choice - owning or renting; urban, suburban or rural living, the ability to live affordability in all different places throughout the region?
