After decades of advocacy, debate, analysis and stalled action, congestion pricing became reality in New York on January 5th, 2025. Early indications are that traffic congestion is down, crossings into Manhattan from all directions take less time, and transit ridership is up in small but important ways – especially on express buses.
This panel will examine how has congestion pricing shaped traffic patterns, public transit use, and environmental outcomes, and discuss what challenges have emerged in implementation and what adjustments may be needed to improve the policy down the road. Join us for a dynamic discussion on the successes, obstacles, and future of congestion pricing in NYC and the region.
