Regional Plan Association mourns the passing of our dear friend and board member Susan Solomon.
Susan was active with RPA for over two decades, helping restructure and reposition the Association after 9/11, and later serving with great distinction and commitment as a member of the RPA Board and Executive Committee. She chaired several committees for the Association during this time, guided us through several leadership transitions, and played an integral role in making RPA the organization that it is today.
During this time she also founded the New York Stem Cell Research Foundation, creating a powerful new institution to bring the benefits of stem cell research to clinical trials.
It is impossible to overstate the impact that Susan had on the people and institutions who were fortunate enough to benefit from her devotion. She brought her powerful convictions, formidable intellect, extraordinary creativity and deep passion for people and issues to everything she did. We have lost her far too soon, and will always be grateful for the wisdom she shared.
