For many of us that experienced the tragic events that happened in our region on September 11, 2001, one factor remains eerily vivid: the cool, calm weather that day.
We have witnessed many life-changing events since - terrorist attacks, a pandemic and worsening weather due to climate change. Our hope, tenacity, and will have helped us get through tough times before as a region and as a country - and will continue to do so.
Today, we pause. To remember our loved ones. To honor our heroes and the courage they showed in their final moments. To thank those who put themselves in harm’s way to save strangers on one of our darkest days.
As we commemorate the 20th anniversary of the attacks, it is our hope the beautiful weather serves as a reminder of our resilience and resolve to tackle what lies ahead.
We will never forget.
