On the beautiful fall evening of September 27, nearly four hundred people gathered at the brand-new Domino Park for RPA’s first-ever benefit, Celebrate the Tri-State. To the west, a spectacular view of the park, the river and the Manhattan skyline. To the north, the soon-to-be-reclaimed Domino Sugar Factory. To the east, a dramatic new residential building, 325 Kent. And of course, the rumbling of the L Train on the iconic Williamsburg Bridge directly to the south. The site set the scene for a great party.

Like all benefits, Celebrate the Tri-State was about raising money – for RPA, for the Fourth Regional Plan, and more specifically, for the Save our Subways campaign. Thanks to the generosity of everyone who participated, we raised $650,000!
But more importantly, the benefit gave us the chance to celebrate three remarkable honorees: Two Trees for the redevelopment of Domino Park, “The Transformative Project of the Year”; Bob Billingsley for going “Above and Beyond” the call of duty in supporting RPA; and Janette Sadik-Khan for “Making it Happen” – having bold ideas and being able to implement them.
And lastly, we had fun! It was terrific to celebrate with old friends, and new ones. We’re always eager to expand the circle of leaders who are building the future of the tri-state region. Thank you for coming out and supporting RPA and our honorees!
