Regional Plan Association Statement in Support of Master Streets Plan

share

“We congratulate Speaker Johnson and the City Council on passing Intro 1557, creating a master plan for city streets every five years. This is the type of vision and leadership New York City needs – one that prioritizes people’s safety, health, and mobility while protecting the environment. Early successes from the 14th Street busway clearly show that making improvements like these work, from big increases in bus ridership to travel time reductions to minimal impact on side streets. The ambitious goals set in this legislation are exactly what we need if we as a City and region are to address our transit and climate crisis and plan for the future,” said Tom Wright, President and CEO, Regional Plan Association.
