Join us on Tuesday, August 1st from 12pm - 1pm to learn how to make parks and open spaces in New Jersey more accessible to people of all ages.
Age-friendly towns have programs and physical infrastructure to support active, independent living and enable residents to safely engage in social and civic activities. Improving access to open spaces for individuals of all ages increases engagement and connection to nature, which is beneficial for mental and physical health. Designing parks to be age-friendly - by adding places to rest, ramps near stairs, programming, and so forth - can also increase community ties and reduce isolation for residents.
Registrants will gain a working knowledge of funding and governance structures and be encouraged to work on their own campaigns to improve parks and access to open spaces in their communities.
