Join RPA and Karp Strategies for a close look at the critical role ports play in establishing offshore wind regionally.
The event’s discussion will explore the status of ports in the region and the actions needed to ensure we meet our climate targets and the promise that ports offer. Experts representing the offshore wind industry, ports, economic development/workforce, and partner communities will join RPA and Karp Strategies!
Join Regional Plan Association and New York City Housing Authority for a Climate Week panel on how the nation’s largest housing authority is integrating sustainability into its work to upgrade housing quality.
As NYCHA works to maintain its developments and ensure their long-term viability, it must also work to prepare its buildings for a changing climate and comply with new policies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This challenge presents a unique opportunity — to decarbonize and prepare whole campuses with the latest energy and resiliency technology, while providing quality, affordable housing for approximately 1 in 17 New Yorkers.
Siobhan Watson, Senior Director of Sustainability within NYCHA’s Asset and Capital Management Division, will lead the panel discussion covering NYCHA’s successes and challenges implementing innovative climate solutions at its properties, with a focus on strategies that leverage NYCHA’s specific site conditions, building typologies, and scale.
New York’s transition to an emissions-free future isn’t just about transforming how we produce and deploy energy: it’s an all-hands-on-deck project that requires real commitment from industry, the workers who power it, and the communities it serves.
How should industry deliver on the urgent task at hand in collaboration with labor, climate justice groups, and local governments to ensure an environmental justice victory that leaves nobody behind? And how can these groups leverage their distinct histories and infrastructure in partnership to achieve that sustainable future? Join us at the 2nd annual Climate Justice Forum to hear from stakeholders who are helping shape New York’s energy future.
Please join AECOM New York Metro and the Regional Plan Association for a half-day symposium.
