At RPA’s second annual Fall Benefit, Celebrate the Tri-State, we honored the World Trade Center Master Plan as the 2019 Project of the Year. Following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, John Whitehead led the effort to rebuild the World Trade Center site and revitalize downtown Manhattan as Founding Chairman of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation.
During our Benefit, this special video paid tribute to John’s leadership and legacy. The 2019 Project of the Year award was given to Tribeca Film Institute Managing Director David Earls on behalf of his late grandfather, John Whitehead and Larry Silverstein, Chairman of Silverstein Properties.
Former New York City Mayor David Dinkins presented Maxine Griffith with the Above & Beyond for her transformational role in New York City planning and community development. CEO of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Patrick Foye presented Rauch Foundation President Nancy Rauch Douzinas with the Making it Happen Award for championing the Long Island Rail Road’s Third Track project.
