Regional Plan Association (RPA) announced today that Governor Mikie Sherrill of New Jersey will join the 2026 Regional Plan Association Assembly on Friday, May 1, as a keynote speaker.
The Regional Plan Association Assembly is a convening of over 1,000 policy experts, public officials, and business leaders to debate bold solutions for the metropolitan region. Sherrill, elected the 57th governor of New Jersey this past November, will join RPA to discuss her visions for the state, as well as discussing cross-Hudson priorities for the region.
“Mikie Sherrill is a long-time friend of RPA, and we’re thrilled that she’s joining us for our biggest event of the year,” said Tom Wright, President and CEO of RPA. “From her support of the Gateway Program to her laser-focus on affordability, Mikie Sherrill is a shining example of an elected official who delivers on her promises. We have much to learn from her keynote speech on May 1.”
This year’s mainstage speakers also include Edward L. Glaeser, Fred and Eleanor Glimp Professor of Economics at Harvard University, and Jamie Rubin, RPA’s recently elected Board Chair and CIO of Aligned Climate Capital. Kathryn Garcia, Executive Director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), will also join the Assembly on May 1 to accept the John E. Zuccotti Award.
“It’s an honor to share the stage with Governor Sherrill at this year’s Assembly,” said Jamie Rubin, Chair of RPA. “Mikie is a committed, long-standing public servant, and her tenure as governor is already shaping New Jersey for the better. We look forward to having her join us at Pier 60 this spring.”
Before being elected as governor, Sherrill represented New Jersey in the U.S. House of Representatives, focusing on affordability for her constituents and funding for critical infrastructure, like NJ TRANSIT and components of the Gateway Program. Before her career as an elected official, Sherrill served as a helicopter pilot in the U.S. Navy and later as the United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey.
Sherrill will join RPA at Pier 60 on Friday, May 1. More information about the Assembly is available on RPA’s website.
