Regional Plan Association Statement on Joe Lhota's Resignation as MTA Chair

share

Tom Wright, President of Regional Plan Association said:

Regional Plan Association thanks Joe Lhota for his public service as Chair of the board of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority during these turbulent times. While we still have much further to go, Chairman Lhota leaves the authority in a better position than when he joined. His Subway Action Plan arrested the precipitous decline of the subway system, and he brought in a team of excellent professionals to run the authority’s units.

Our focus now is to work with the leadership team and the State Legislature, to implement congestion pricing to fund the Fast Forward plan and fix the subways and buses, and to continue tackling the high costs and bureaucracy embedded in the MTA. The greatest legacy of his work will be the fulfillment of those efforts, which he did so much to foster and launch.
