Let’s Fix NYC Coalition Statement on New York State Budget Agreement

The following is the Let’s Fix NYC Coalition’s statement on the New York State budget agreement:

“The measures laid out in the budget – for-hire vehicle surcharges, new bus lane enforcement cameras, and funding for transit deserts and subway repairs – are important first steps toward addressing the region’s transportation crisis. The Governor and legislative leaders deserve credit for enabling New York to begin tackling our traffic and transit woes.

“Albany must now finish the job by enacting the remainder of the Fix NYC plan, including establishing a congestion zone around the Central Business District. In the coming months, the details will need to be fleshed out to reach a permanent, sustainable and equitable fix to squarely address the region’s transportation needs. The Fix NYC Transit coalition is committed to seeing this process through to the end and won’t rest until the full Fix NYC recommendations are adopted and implemented.”
