RPA Wins Grant for Fourth Plan From Fairfield County's Community Foundation

share

STAMFORD, CONN. – Regional Plan Association has received a $15,000 grant from Fairfield County’s Community Foundation to support local participation in the development of the Fourth Regional Plan for the tri-state New York-New Jersey-Connecticut region.

The grant from the Community Foundation will enable broader participation in the development of the Fourth Regional Plan by Fairfield County residents and organizations. Since the 1920s, RPA has produced three landmark plans for the metropolitan region, and launched work on a fourth plan in 2013. The plan, a long-term vision for our shared prosperity and sustainability, will address urgent challenges facing the region including climate change, fiscal uncertainty and growing unaffordability. Input from local communities is vital to crafting a blueprint that will tackle the diverse issues facing the 31-county tri-state area.

“This grant will help ensure that RPA’s Fourth Regional Plan will develop solutions for the problems of particular importance to Fairfield County,” said RPA Connecticut Director Amanda Kennedy. “Local participation helps RPA to develop ambitious but workable solutions to problems such as deteriorating infrastructure and high housing costs and to build a network of partners in implementation.”

Fairfield County’s Community Foundation promotes philanthropy as a means to create change in Fairfield County, focusing on innovative and collaborative solutions to critical issues impacting the community. Individuals, families, corporations and organizations can establish charitable funds or contribute to existing funds. The Community Foundation is in compliance with Council on Foundations’ national standards, and has awarded $180 million grants to nonprofits in Fairfield County and beyond.
