
Each year, the RPA Assembly convenes over a thousand policy experts, public officials and business leaders committed to addressing climate change, promoting inclusive growth, and developing transportation systems.
Named after John E. Zuccotti, a long-serving member of the RPA Board of Directors and Executive Committee, the award recognizes leaders who have made exceptional contributions to the built environment of the city and the region. Past recipients of the award include President Joseph R. Biden, Amtrak Chairman Anthony Coscia, former HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros, former NYC Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen, and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Executive Director Rick Cotton.

Vision and Priorities for Improving the Nation’s Communities
Mitch Landrieu, Senior Advisor to the President, will share his vision and priorities for improving the nation’s communities through programs such as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act.

Monday, May 1 — Federal Funding for Region-Shaping Investment
The Federal Funding panel will explore the implementation methods of the once-in-a-generation federal funding made available by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IJA) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Panelists representing federal, state, and local government will discuss their impact on economic development, transportation, and tech, and how the region can capitalize on these opportunities.

Tuesday, May 2 — Get the Goods: The Regional Impact of Changing Freight
The Goods Movement panel will explore how changing freight patterns impact our region and how a coordinated response can alleviate the strain on our infrastructure, land use patterns, economic prosperity, and quality of life.

Wednesday, May 3 — Climate Future in Focus
Leaders in government, industry, design, and community organizing will explore what a resilient, clean energy future can look like and the kind of immediate and long-term investments that can get us from vision to reality.

Thursday, May 4 — Be My Neighbor
The Housing Advocacy panel will explore the intersections of land use, financing, resilience, and design and delve into how the region can build housing that addresses the region’s housing affordability crisis while reducing segregation and improving the environment.
